HBAN All-Island Director Niamh Sterling accepts EBAN Best Performing Award in Copenhagen

Dublin, Ireland, Friday 13th June 2025 — HBAN (Halo Business Angel Network), an all-island organisation funded by Enterprise Ireland and InterTradeIreland, which connects individual angels and syndicates to startups across the island of Ireland, has been named Europe’s Best Performing EBAN Member by the European Business Angel Network (EBAN), the leading pan-European representative of the early-stage investor community.

At the EBAN Annual Congress 2025 in Copenhagen, HBAN was recognised for its exceptional role in connecting angel investors with Ireland’s most promising startups. Accepting the award, All-Island Director Niamh Sterling credited HBAN’s syndicates, regional partners, and committed angels for the achievement.

With over 100 member organisations, EBAN’s recognition underscores the strength and growing influence of Ireland’s angel investment ecosystem.

“This award is a testament to the strength of angel investors, our all-island team and our stakeholders who power HBAN’s success. We are proud to see the impact of HBAN recognised on a European stage and will continue to build strong investor-founder connections across the island.”

The recognition follows an outstanding Q1 with €6.8m being invested into 16 Irish companies, with a significant investment across key sectors, including MedTech and SportsTech, included in these deals were 6 Northern Ireland-based companies, with angels from both sides of the border participating.

“Being part of HBAN gives me access to high-quality startup investment opportunities and the chance to co-invest with other experienced angels. It’s a great way to support innovation, build strong networks, and make a meaningful impact on the Irish startup ecosystem. Given the deal flow, the increased diversity of the membership, and several high-value exits, it's no wonder that HBAN has been named the best performing Business Angel Network in Europe in 2025.’
