Kerry Angel Network makes first investment as part of €270,000 HBAN funding in home-buying platform Lintil
HBAN (Halo Business Angel Network), the all-island organisation responsible for the promotion of business angel investment, and a joint initiative of Enterprise Ireland, InterTradeIreland and Invest Northern Ireland, today announces that investors in its Kerry Angel Network, along with Enterprise Ireland and other HBAN angels, have invested in Irish-founded Lintil, a free-to-use online home-buying platform. Lintil users can access an entirety of services, support and advice to help navigate an increasingly complicated Irish property market.
This is the first deal for the Kerry Angel Network, which invested alongside fellow HBAN angel investors across Ireland to contribute a total of €270,000 to the €1 million in seed funding already raised by the company. The new funding will support the creation of six new jobs in technical and product development and enables Lintil to focus on a range of growth opportunities including expansion into the UK. There will also be a significant investment in technology, resources, system processes and sales and marketing activities.
Headquartered in Dublin, Lintil’s mission is to simplify the home-buyer’s journey and facilitate timely introductions to the best professional service providers relevant to each point in the buying process. Lintil’s virtual assistant guides users through the entire home-buying process and enables them to achieve discounted quotations from all of the leading home-buying services in the market, including mortgage brokers, solicitors, insurance companies, property surveyors and many more.
HBAN’s Kerry Angel Network, which launched in November 2020, is a community of business angels with a shared vision of nurturing and investing in start-ups. The group initially wants to focus on building awareness of angel investing among Kerry-based companies, or companies that might want to locate themselves in Kerry. Through the wider HBAN community, its investors have access to pre-qualified start-up investment opportunities from across the island of Ireland as well as the opportunity to connect with fellow business angel investors. Early-stage start-ups from the region will have the opportunity to pitch their businesses to potential investors.
HBAN’s Kerry syndicate is part of the broader national HBAN network, granting angel investors access to pre-qualified cross-sectoral investment opportunities on the island of Ireland. HBAN’s Kerry Angel Network is primarily interested in companies located in, or connected to, Kerry, providing mentorship, support and networking avenues for high-potential start-ups.
Kerry Angel Network Chairperson, Sean Ryan, said: “By addressing key pain points inherent in the complicated and protracted home-buying journey, Lintil is well poised to succeed in this market. The Lintil team has demonstrated an appreciation of evolving market trends, and we’re delighted to support them as they grow.
“Lintil is a standout example of the type of quality start-up that HBAN introduces to business angels who are seeking a significant return on investment. It has a well-developed and clear unique value proposition and offers major potential to scale internationally.”
Emmet Creighton, Co-Founder and CEO of Lintil added: “Today represents a proud milestone for our platform, and a strong seal of approval of our work in simplifying a stressful process in the lives of prospective home-buyers. The buying process is one of life’s great administrative burdens, and we want to change that forever.
“We are also delighted to announce that this funding will enable the creation of six new jobs at Lintil, and support our ambition to expand into the UK market.
“HBAN has been a great support in helping us identify well-suited angel investors who believe in our offering, while providing unrivalled strategic advice and contacts that will help accelerate our expansion.”
