Angels Flock to Claremorris

A training and information seminar on ‘Angel Investing in High Potential Enterprises, is it for you?’ was held in Claremorris on the 6th of March.

The event, organised as part of the ESIL programme formed part of the Enterprise Week  series of events in the West of Ireland and was well attended.

The goal of this event was to encourage participants in the West of Ireland to become active as angel investors as well as providing information on how to become an investor and the private/angel investment process. At the event, speakers and experts spoke about their experiences of angel investing, both as investors and investees, how they utilised their networks and the role of syndicate investment groups. 

The keynote speaker for the event was Victoria Hernandez of ESIL who is a highly successful entrepreneur and investor in her own right as well as being a highly recognized senior executive with more than 25 years’ experience in building, launching and managing multinational enterprises in the EU and Globally, primarily in the TMT and the Fintech services sector. Victoria is also head of the investment committee of Rising Tide Europe, an investment programme, which is part of a global movement to increase women’s participation in private/angel investing as an asset class.

Those in attendance also heard from Fidelma McGuirk of Payslip.com as well as Anna Downes of ShowHouz and Barry Flannery of Xerotech

Following on from the event which was attended by almost 40 participants, a number of attendees have expressed an interest in learning more about becoming a private/angel investor as well as becoming involved in the Rising Tide Programme. 

This Early Stage Investment Launchpad (ESIL) Programme event was run in conjunction with the Local Enterprise Offices in Mayo, Galway and Roscommon and supported by HBAN, WestBIC, The WDC, EI, the Empower Programme and others.
