Masterclass 2: Getting Deals Done

Discussion led by Barry Brennan & Brian McDonald, Moderated by Julian Seymour

Leading angel investment deals is a time-consuming task. Over the last 3 years, the number of syndicated deals has increased significantly and the number of angels in each syndicated deal has also increased. In addition, the number of additional investors party to a seed round has grown (Many rounds now comprise of Seed VC’s, Other Privates, EI, and HBAN Angels).

At Pre-legal stage, companies can often be underprepared for due diligence and promoters often have excessive valuations which can often be revised upwards after initial contact. When deals move into legal, the presence of multiple parties all pushing for preferable conditions, coupled with multiple legal representatives acting for each of the respective parties can bring progressing the deal to a standstill.

Taking this into account leading a deal can be time-consuming and demanding experience. This masterclass features two experienced HBAN investors and deals leads, sharing their insights and lessons learned in making investment
