Case Study: ServusNet supported by Cork BIC Business Angel Partnership
ServusNet has developed an operations management solution to help wind farm operators cut their operating and reporting costs and maximise their income. Partnering with telecoms services giant Nokia Siemens Networks.
Cork-based ServusNet found that operators, whether they have built and developed a wind farm, or whether they manage a portfolio of wind farms for other companies, often struggle to make sense of how a wind farm portfolio is performing using existing software.
Started in 2007 by four former Motorola executives with extensive experience in telecoms network management software, they were closely assisted by CorkBIC in the early stages to help them identify and focus on their target market. They were introduced to the Halo Business Angel Partnership who worked with ServusNet to find them their first strategic investor, an experienced technology entrepreneur, who then joined the company in the role of CFO.
The company engaged again in late 2009 with the HBAP and were successful in finding their next strategic investor whom together with a matching investment from Enterprise Ireland, has placed the company on a sound financial footing for expansion in 2010.
